J. C. Tran is a force to be reckoned with at the poker tables and has several poker wins to his name along with a fortune of $7,996,635 in live poker tournaments winnings alone.
Most people would describe J. C. Tran at the green tables as a dynamic and highly skilled poker player. Tran has two WSOP poker bracelets, and has cashed in at some of the world’s best poker tournaments events like the World Poker Tour and the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP). J. C. Tran has also earned the title of being the WPT Player of the Year in 2007.
J. C. Tran was born with a much longer name “Justin Cuong Van Tran” in 1977 in Vietnam. He moved to America when he was 2 years old and grew up in America where he eventually learned to play the game that would change his life.
Tran is the youngest of 8 children and appears to have been ambitious from his younger years while living in Sacramento, California. Tran’s first noteworthy foray into playing poker professionally was when he began to-play the $9-$18 poker games held at the Capitol Casino in his hometown of Sacramento.
Once he got started on the poker track, this Vietnamese-American professional poker player picked up enough poker skills to be considered something of a poker phenomenon at the tournament tables. His first notable win occurred when he sat down for the 2004 WPT, Tran made it to the final at fifth place with around $354,000 in prize money. Tran also tried his luck at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) but only came in at the 117th place.
The next event that Tran played at and scored a big hit at was the L.A. Poker Classic of the same year. The next year, in 2005, Tran decided to launch out into bigger pastures and targeted world renowned poker tournament events like the 2005 Borgata Poker Open and the World Series of Poker. Although Tran did not finish in the top 100 players at the WSOP 2005, he did manage to cash in at the Borgata Poker Open.
When he played the 2006 L.A. Poker Classic, he came in fifth but hit the jackpot when he played at PokerStars' WCOOP. Tran took in $670,000 in winnings along with the title for the $2,500 No limit Hold'em event.
In 2007, Tran faired better at the L.A. Poker Classic, when he came in second with $1,177,010. He also went on to win a WPT title for the 2007 WPT World Poker Challenge and walked away richer by $683,473. It was during this year, that Tran got voted as the WPT Player of the Year In 2008, Tran was in fine form and took in a WSOP bracelet and $631,170 in winnings. He also took the 6th place for the 2008 WSOP Player of the Year. Tran won another WSOP gold bracelet in 2009.
J. C. Tran is also known to participate in weird bets and interesting poker games. He has defeated the likes of Tony G in heads-up play and has a bankroll of $1,694,280.
